Thought of the day

I thank whatever gods may be / For my unconquerable soul. / I am the master of my fate / I am the captain of my soul. ~William Ernest Henley, Invictus

Government's promises are like the Ringgit, they depreciate with time.

The search for Kenny

South Kuching City Hall

Was in Kuching over the weekend for my sis' wedding, and also partially in search for Kenny Sia. The view when we were about to land was breathtaking with large rivers snaking through the jungle and we were so excited to see the floodplains, marshlands and deltas, it's like learning Geography all over again.

DUN Sarawak

Kuching is a beautiful town and I learnt from CF that the Sarawakians owe much to the mighty White Rajah or Pek Moh (the White Hair) for its development. He has been in power longer than Mahathir's premiership, and will be in power for the next decade and if Mahathir can lead Malaysia to what it is today, you can imagine what the Pek Moh is capable of in ruling the largest and most resourceful state in Malaysia.

Astana

I probed a lot about the legendary blogger who recently opens his gym in Kuching. I took a walk to Level Up which is a few streets away from the hotel in hope to run into Kenny by chance and learn a few tricks from him on how to earn some extra money through blogging. That didn't happen because somebody chickened out and merely hang around outside the gym with prying eyes like a voyeur and when one of the receptionist noticed my existence and started walking towards me, I fled away with my D60 in a fluster.

Is that my lighting engineer or just the bride's dad trying to hammer the bride?

As usual, we had to rise and shine pretty early for the matrimony ceremony. Am glad to meet Alvin the photographer for the day. This is one talented IT guy who can sing like Michael Buble:p So I tried to learn from the master, like I had learnt from all the other masters. Didn't bring batt for my flash so I had to rely fully on natural lightings, as a matter of fact, I am still exploring how to use it. Most of the pictures are a bit blurry, should have switch to higher ISO...noob!

The cutest and prettiest bride.

And when I thought my search for Kenny is over, there he is going merry-go-round from table to table at the wedding dinner. ~meow

1Malaysia: The Way I See It

I walked into Maybank, City Square today and saw this eye-catching yellow flyer:

Dividen + Bonus 8.55%

urging investors to invest in this fund. Pretty enticing until I saw that it is ASB (Amanah Saham Bumiputera). The country is practically giving out cash generously, too bad we Malaysian Chinese and Indians don't get to enjoy this benefit because it is only for 1Race.

This is 1Malaysia.

Visit Malaysia 2010

If you want to see burnt churches and cow head soccer, where else to go but Malaysia?

Now that I get your attention, I can further promote what my country has to offer as a spectacular tourist spot much better than aunty Ng.

Imagine a firework, not those that you'd witnessed during the Beijing Olympics, and definitely not the lame ones you saw during the Burj Khalifa's opening ceremony, I am talking about the firework with real human flesh and blood as confetti. And, for the bursting charge, we use military-grade explosives, C4 for example. Wow! Oya, did I mentioned that we are using voluptuous models worldwide? And of course, Mongolian model has been the all time favorite.

That's not all! In Malaysia, we are so bloody rich, so much richer than Dubai, I mean, come on, when our central bank lost RM32 billion in 6 months dabbling in foreign exchange and not go bust, and when we can simply send some handsome doctor into space for fun, we are unarguably rich, right? So, the Malaysian government has graciously bought extra fourteen Sukhoi fighter jets, for display. Where else can you see brand new fighter jets rotting in the hangar?

Fear not! Am pretty sure that in no time, we are going to recall the costs as we have already established a very good network with international jet engine collectors. Oya, I've got this news regarding the latest exhibit for Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2010, our F5E fighter jet will definitely be the star of the event. Come on, where else can you see fighter jets without engines?

and,

and, I think the list will get longer and longer if there is no unforeseen circumstances, like a change in the ruling parties in the coming general election.
